I transferred the domain to a Bluehost account which i had to purchase (as i had around 30 websites on my previous hosting account) and got the whole site transferred to the new hosting. Took me almost the whole day and I am over now. Emailed Sedo to tell them about the site and give them the details now. in a way i think i should be happy that i sold a Website for a Grand. But i feel sad cos the adsense income alone Was 200$ per month with affiliate revenue more than that. An Ass that i am, now i am off to sell it for good.

If you are looking for a web designer who knows his job, read ahead. Web designers who are new to the industry and are freelancers have had poor reputation due to various factors. Here I have put in a few of the mistakes which i have done in the past and my employees have taken to it.

#1: Lack Of Communication
This is one of the biggest losers in the website industry. Its important that someone communicates to your clients in regular basis. You just cannot Promise that a product will be delivered in 10 days and not communicate to the client for the entire 10 Days. Communication with your client is essential during the progress. Everyday, an email to the client should explain where the website has progressed. This gives the client a feeling of work. They know something is being worked on and they dont panic. more over, this is a time saver. If the website is delivered in 10 days and the client does not like the work, in terms of design or functionality, You have to get it redone entirely. On the other hand, with proper communication, you save time and a load of effort.

If you find that your website designer has not called you after the initial appointment within At least 2 days, You have a problem. Be sure that you mention that you require regular DAILY updates on progress.

#2 Meeting Deadlines
This is a Hard one and involves both You and the Designer. Its sometimes very hard to judge the time frame for a particular project. IT may look really small with 4-5 pages but would end up with 40-50 sub pages and a series of programming , authentication, Server side inclusions and a lot more. The actual time frame of 5 days is clearly not possible. In case of a problem, its most likely that your designer is aware of it at least before 3 days for a 5 day project. It is essential that he lets you know that there is going to be a problem and he requires a more time. If this is acceptable , move ahead.

The problem of time line could arise from poor communication as well as Lack of management. If the Client is not aware of his requirements and is not well versed with the technology, Be assured that the time frame may look absolutely too much for a 5 page design with a BIT of programming which alone may take 5 Days. Communicate your requirements clearly so you know you have made it clear, right from the first meeting.

#3 : The nodder
If your Web designer comes up for the Initial interview and nods his way out without making any notes, You are getting a goner for the job. Get him to note down points and every specifications from Color to Websites you like to the style and content and everything you think is important. If he is not doing it by himself, Well you have a newbie in front of you and you are wasting time.

#4 : Personal Portfolio
Look at your designers Portfolio carefully, and also make sure that you take a look at the design companies portfolio if the individual represents an organization. Check their website and see what they have achieved in the past. If you find some notable projects, Check if they have made a contribution worth putting it up on their portfolio. Ask them questions and you will know where you are heading. If you find the person unable to answer questions, check out on another project. Ask them if you can call for a testimonial.

#5 : Knowledge and Skills

Cepstra.co.uk now is optimized and is running well. The crawling is done. the positioning is poor. The home page is now W3C compatible.

Ashik has the deadline set for the 20th of the month for the FAO database project. I think that should not be a problem considering the simplicity of the project.

On the movies section… the air buddies was good and today am going for “I am Legend” the spooky one. No vacations this christmas unfortunately.

To start off with, kendir.com has been seeing lesser traffic and worse still i have lesser revenue from adsense. This has now taken my attention to it. I checked the code for adsense (which i havent been doing since long) and found that adsense has changed its way of coding completely. This seemed interesting … and guess what? when i put in the new code, i could see more relevant ads. I am hoping to see a good change on tomorrows stat. I presume that there will be more CTR’s and better money again. December is here and plenty of affiliate sales are happening.. every product is on the list of gifts… am hoping that i make my share here this christmas too.

Roosterhotel has gone down but moshotel.com is doing fairly well with adsense though there hasnt been much of affiliate revenue the past 2 weeks.

The first section is a blog where i will post resumes of people who require a job. The resumes are easily searchable and now online. google seems to love it already and i have given it a good start with the Jobs blog. Now i am to put in a blog for company details too. Where people can comment on a company or for that matter add a complete page of content for the company. This would increase the details available on the website and as you may know by now the site is fully static so putting in content of that kind could just kick in an extra lot of traffic.

Unfortunately the traffic range is only high for Jobs and its only wise to use the traffic efficiently by giving the users what they want. So I have started by helping out those who want a job. Now the next step would indeed be getting the people who are interested in Employing them. I am hoping that people search for people to employ. If that doesnt work i will have to start working on a complete Job portal for kenya.

Real estate india is stuck. Moshotel will now soon add up all contents from Roosterhotel and will also have a blog to post comments. This will add up traffic of course as the content pages will add up. Well the best part is that the comments will go to the Blog.
